railroad with the new Amtrak Acela (SM) Express from
Bachmann. In partnership with Amtrak, Bachmann developed
this sleek speedster from the original design drawings.
State-of-the-art tooling ensures that the Spectrum line
Acela Express is an authentic replica of America's
premier passenger train.
The powered locomotive features a precision-balanced
five pole skew-wound motor mounted in a heavy die cast
metal chassis with die cast gear towers. Realistic,
chemically blackened RP-25 contour metal wheel sets
provide good tracking on all HO Scale track. What's
more, you can choose to run this DCC-ready model off of
conventional track power or overhead catenary power with
a flick of a switch.
Out on the mainline, one of the Acela Express' main
features is its ability to lean into curves thanks to
its advanced tilting mechanism. The tilt allows for
higher speeds on curves and a smoother ride for
passengers. Just like the prototype, the Spectrum line
Acela Express offers a tilting chassis on its passengers
cars - a first for any North American HO Scale model.
Features prototypical interiors in cabs and passenger
cars include control consoles, passenger seats and
dining area. You can see this detail through the
true-to-life flush fitting windows. A realistic lighting
system illuminates the car interiors and features
directional headlights, ditch lights and markers. Also
includes one powered and one dummy electric loco with
directional headlights, ditch lights and markers. May be
run from track or overhead power.
