Sokols Mattress and Furniture

THE NEXT IN OUR "1 0F 500" SERIES....
On display this weekend in Springfield will be the next of our limited-run HO kits. "Sokol's Mattress & Furniture" is by far the largest single structure we've ever tackled here at the shop. Measuring 6.5" wide, 10" deep, and about 8" tall this new kit is unlike anything else in the Bar Mills line of structures.
We have to thank fellow modeler Malcolm Sokol for the plans for this one, his version of it gained him an award at the NMRA National Convention in Philly a couple of years back. Malcolm... we thank you for your help on this one... hope you're not disappointed !
Take a look at the roof details, the specially designed "center-pivot" windows, and the unique 5-wall design. The only problem we've had with this one is figuring out which side should be the "front"... it's a tough call to make !
The kit is due to ship in April, the cost will be $159.00 + $10 shipping within the CONUS. On the last "1 0f 500" (Schmidtchen's) we covered shipping on orders sent through PayPal... we'll do the same this time around.
BTW, we have not sold-out of Schmidtchen's yet... it'll probably be around for a few more months. We still have about 150 kits of the 500 run available.

SOKOL's SNEAK-PEEKS....
All right... we admit it... we did a quick Photoshop on the following photos to introduce a sky background... but as far as the structure goes... what you see is what you get. (except for the usual scenery, figures, & vehicles). In our opinion this kit needs no help looking good... see what you think.


These especially designed windows hinge in the middle (see left side of building) to provide something that is quite common, but had yet to be made available in a plastic window casting.



Details, Details, Details



Loading docks stretch around three sides of this building, making it suitable for just about any kind of heavy train or truck freight loads. The uniquely designed cornice adds a lot of character to this structure.

Complete roof detailing along with the usual assortment of pallets, resin castings, and white metal detail parts help this structure to tell a "story".


We'd like to think that even from the "back" this factory is fun to check-out. While what I'm about to say may seem self-serving I'll risk the barbs and tell you that in my opinion the structure looks better in person than in these photos.
